This fantastic 383  cuda convertible from the hills of Pikeville Kentucky is one of 33 4-speed cuda convertibles ordered in 1971..  How many are black four speeds with white billboards and white convertible top???  I haven’t seen or heard of another one in all my years of collecting.  Billboard 1971 cudas are very rare.   When I first heard of this car in 1987 from a friend of mine I jumped in my car cash in hand and drove to Ohio to buy it from a collector who was big into 1971 Hemi Chargers…  Earl Gettlefinger if my memory serves me correctly..  When I first saw the car it looked liked it had been used in a moonshine running business..  Lots of Kentucky mud in and under the quarters .   The top moved up and down like an accordion and the billboard stripes original from the factory were cracked and looked like a spider web gone wild…   The car was awesome and I loved it instantly..   I handed Earl the cash looked at four or five of his hemi chargers thanked him and drove off to check on another barracuda convertible I saw in the auto trade magazine.  There was no haggling on price for fear someone else would get the car..  Cuda convertibles like this almost never come up for sale..   Why ??   Because they built so few…
